Awake or Asleep?

“Only that day dawns to which we are awake.”

– Henry David Thoreau –

Do we look but not see? Hear but not listen? Touch but not feel? Catch a scent but not inhale deeply? Eat and not savor the taste?

May our senses be awake when we’re awake. May we slow down, nurture peace, cultivate loving-kindness, and carry the calm.

Nature of the week – dawn from my window, and a haiku to go with it:

Dawn whispers morning,

hums the day before breaking

into full song.

A Winged Heart

“Wake at dawn with a winged heart

and give thanks for another day of loving.”

The Very Life of Life

Listen to the Exhortation of the Dawn!

Look to this Day!

For it is Life, the very Life of Life.

In its brief course lie all the

Verities and Realities of your Existence;

The Bliss of Growth

The Glory of Action

The Splendor of Beauty;

For Yesterday is but a Dream,

And Tomorrow is only a Vision,

But Today well lived makes every

Yesterday a Dream of Happiness, and every

Tomorrow a Vision of Hope.

Look well therefore to this Day!

Such is the Salutation of the Dawn.

– from the Sanskrit –

Nourish peace, cultivate loving kindness, and carry the calm.
