The Wind, the Moon, and You and Me

I have two poems for you today, the first a nursery rhyme:

The moon’s the North Wind’s cooky.

He bites it, day by day,

Until there’s but a rim of scraps

That crumble all away.

The South Wind is a baker.

He kneads clouds in his den.

And bakes a crisp new moon that – greedy

North – Wind – eats – again!

Vachel Lindsay

“[L]ike the moon,

you will sometimes be a crescent

and sometimes full.”

Rumi

Whether you’re at the crescent stage or the full moon stage or somewhere in between, may you reflect the beauty of this season back into the world.

Nurture peace, cultivate loving kindness, and carry the calm.

The Stirring of the Wind

“A leaf quivers on a branch and my heart trembles

the wind stirs the leaves and beauty stirs my heart.”

Rumi

Pay deep attention to the stirring of the wind,

the stirring of the spirit,

the stirring of beauty in the heart.

Hold this treasure close.

Nurture peace, cultivate loving kindness, and carry the calm.

In Your Own Shadow

“Stop walking in your own shadow

wallowing in your foolish thoughts.

Raise your head . . . walk

among the flowers . . .

look toward the sun.”

Rumi

Pay attention. Nurture peace, cultivate loving kindness, and carry the calm.

What Do a Moment and a Blossom Have in Common?

“Look past your thoughts

so you may drink the pure nectar of this moment.”

– Rumi –

Nurture peace, cultivate loving-kindness, and carry the calm.

Nature of the week – A moment and a blossom, both hold nourishment. Three are looking for nectar in this picture: two bees and one ant – see them?

Shadow of the Week – seen through leaves of coleus:
